Partner of GO Associados, a Brazilian consulting firm. As a consultant, has participated as expert witness and arbitrator in several cases involving private and public disputes. Experience includes participation as expert witness in the New York Bankruptcy Court.

Professor of Economics at Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and Coordinator of FGV’s Infrastructure & Environmental Solutions Studies Center. He was visiting professor at Columbia University in the U.S. in 2006. Member of the International Academy of Law and Economics.

Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California (Berkeley), Master from the Universidade de Campinas (UNICAMP) and Bachelor from University of São Paulo (USP).

He is a Board director of BRASKEM and TIM. In both companies coordinates the Statutory Audit Committee.  At TIM is a member of the ESG Committee. He is also the President of the Board of Directors of Estre Ambiental. He has been certified as an independent board member and a Member of the Audit Committee (CCoAud + IBGC) by IBGC (Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance).

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Compact's "Movimento + Água”.

His previous positions include being the CEO of Sabesp – Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (2007-11), the fourth largest water company in the world; President of CADE - the Federal Antitrust Authority (1996-2000); Deputy Secretary for Economic Policy (1993-95) and Secretary for Economic Monitoring (1995), both of which, within the Ministry of Finance.


Gustavo Rafael Collere Possetti is Head of Research and Innovation at Water and Sanitation Company of Paraná State (Sanepar), Brazil. He works at Sanepar since 2010. He is Doctor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Informatics by Federal University of Technology - Paraná, Brazil (UTFPR), specializing in Photonics in Engineering and Automation in Petroleum and Natural Gas Processes. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering – Electronics and Telecommunications by UTFPR and in Environmental Engineering by Federal University of Paraná. He leads innovative and sustainable projects in environmental sanitation area, focused on efficiency energy, bioenergy and resource recovery. He guides national and international cross-functional and networking works. He published more than 250 technical and scientific papers. He is a member of both International Water Association (IWA) and Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council (WtERT) - Brazil. He coordinates the advisory committees about sewage treatment of Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (ABES) and is director at ABES-Paraná. He is a member of the Technical Innovation Chamber of the Brazilian Association of StateSanitation Companies (AESBE).

Karen J. do Amaral is a professor and researcher in the Department of Hydraulics and Sanitation at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Water Resources, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ) and Universität Stuttgart, and a Master’s in Civil Engineering, also in Water Resources, from COPPE/UFRJ.

Throughout her academic career, she has served as a professor at the Universität Stuttgart, at the Institut für Siedlungswasserbau, Wassergüte und Abfallwirtschaft (ISWA), where she coordinated and participated in several projects related to wastewater treatment, low-cost technological alternatives for reducing organic load in landfills, and autonomous wastewater treatment stations. She also taught at Positivo University, delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Management.

Karen has actively contributed to strengthening international academic cooperation, facilitating partnerships between institutions such as Technische Hochschule Rosenheim and UFPR, as well as coordinating exchange programs and dual degree agreements between Brazil and Germany. She has significant experience in organizing scientific events, including international symposia such as the MAUI Symposium, and leading university extension projects focused on implementing environmental courses in higher education institutions.
